About

The programs and services the Challenge Center provides and continuum of service options are listed in the Programs section and reflect the individualized care provided to over 60 program participants by our 170 dedicated staff and many volunteers. Each of our 10 residential homes, located in neighborhoods throughout the City of Superior, has a distinct atmosphere and purpose. Creative work environments that include Bay Produce, Marathon Industries as well as many community employment opportunities support people in developing their individual vocational goals. The Day Services programs also provide a variety of learning and growth experiences with a continuum of care, from Sensory Stimulation through Life Skills to our Seniors programs. Community integration is a primary theme of our services and is central all programs and  our evening & weekend recreation and leasure time activities offerings.

The Challenge Center has been serving Superior / Douglas County for 50 years.  It was established in 1969 in response to Community Needs, when parents of children and adults with developmental disabilities asked Catholic Charities to develop day programs. Services and supports have grown and evolved as we continue to respond to community needs.  Independent Living Support, Personal Care Services and 24-hour Supported Home Care have all been developed specifically to help men and women maintain independence.

We are pleased to support the people of our community and we appreciate support in doing so. Donations are gratefully accepted.
